Reverse Stockinette Stitch

Number or stitches for pattern ~ Any

Row 1. Purl (this is the right side)
Row 2. Knit
Repeat both rows

Skill Level
Another basic stitch for beginner knitters. Once you've grasped how to knit and purl, play around with the effects of starting with a purl row instead of a knit.

The Look
Characterised by is bumpy 'U' look. It looks very similar to garter stitch but the wrong side will have a smooth knitted 'V' look, see stockinette stitch for how the 'wrong' side should look for this stitch.

Abbreviation
 Reverse stockinette stitch is sometimes abbreviated to ( Rev st st) in a pattern.
